WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Before we can really answer that question, we have to talk about permanent makeup and Define permanent makeup and then semi-permanent makeup. Permanent makeup implants in the upper layer of the dermis just like semi-permanent makeup, known as microblading. The difference is that permanent makeup is using a machine and a machine is able to drive pigment into skin at a faster and more consistent rate than manual tools can.

Microblading is a  semi-permanent technique made specifically for improving the appearance of one’s eyebrows. During microblading a pigment using very fine, short strokes is used that ends up very closely resembling natural eyebrows. The permanent make-up artist (or PMU artist) applying the microblading technique usually uses a hand tool that contains a blade formed of tiny needles.

HOW IS MICROBLADING APPLID TO THE SKIN?

With microblading, you are cutting the skin, and with a tattoo machine or permanent makeup machine, you’re implanting it differently. This allows there to be a difference in survivability in the skin.

So essentially one advantage of permanent makeup is that because it implants so much pigment, it can survive longer in the skin. However, this can be a negative because the longer it’s in your skin, the more likely you are to get different colors. This happens because as the skin begins to absorb the pigment, the look of the eyebrows begins to depreciate and can cause issues in the quality of appearance. At Dermesthetica, we have seen red eyebrows or  green or purple eyebrows out there. Even blue or gray eyebrows!! A lot of those colors are in the base of the pigment and so the longer it’s in your skin, the more likely you are to see them. Permenent make up does begin to fade after 18-24 months.

With semi-permanent makeup or microblading, theres no chance for that to happen. Essentialy microblading is inplanting pigment into the upper dermal, layer of the skin. This is done to create hair like strokes using a manual tool that gives a natural appearance to eyebrows.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MICROBLADING AND OMBRE EYEBROW TREATMENTS?

Basically microblading is when we create hair stroke lines. While ombre or shadow brows is when the makeup artists uses shading techniques. With microblading, you have a deeper, more invasive treatment. It can create more scarring and requires a downtime of 24-48 hours. While you can go to work the next day, you may experience some light scabbing and flaking the first 10 days.

For the first 2 weeks after your microblading treatment, it is important for the patient to avoid getting their eyebrows wet. That means covering them in the shower and avoiding swimming in the pool and ocean. While some clinics advertise microblading as a permanent treatment, we’d like to be more transparent. Thus, we refer to our Miami microblading service as a semi-permanent treatment. This just means it requires a light touch up about once a year and that should preserve the look and feel of your eyebrows optimally.

OMBRE / SHADOW EYEBROWS

The shadowing is much more shallow treatment meaning not as deep into the skin. It heals more evenly.

COMBO EYEBROWS

Combo brows is when we do a little bit of both. Combo brows usually turns out to be the most natural looking, but it doesn’t work on everybody. This is why we encourage you to schedule a consultation for eyebrow treatment at Dermesthetica Miami.

Since every case is different, for example, if somebody has a lot of hair missing, we may need to do some eyebrow hair strokes within the ombre. This makes it look more natural. Conversely, for people with a lot of hair strokes that don’t need more hair, you may just need the ombre eyebrow treatment which actually feels a lot better and last longer.

Ultimately, at Dermesthetica Miami, it is important for us to get you the look and feel of the eyebrows you desire most. Book an appointment below with Jana, our permanent makeup artists to begin the process.
